Start here: Useful terms we use

As you are looking at this page we are assuming you are interested in joining the BSG.  Some of the terms we use might be confusing or unfamiliar, so here are a few used in this page:

  • Executive Committee
This is the management team who are responsible for running Bramley Scout Group.  It consists of Leaders and other roles, such as Chairman, Treasurer etc.
  • Leaders
Leaders run each Section, usually helped by other joint Leaders or adult helpers.
  • Section
There are three sections in BSG:
    • Beavers, ages 6 yrs - 8 yrs
    • Cubs, ages 8 yrs - 10½ yrs
    • Scouts, ages 10½ yrs - 14 yrs
  • Adult Helpers
People who help with the running of our usual meetings or organised events (BBQs, camps etc).

Admissions Policy

The BSG provides opportunities to all children.  Unfortunately we are restricted with the numbers of places we can offer, so have prepared an Admissions Policy that sets out the process we use when looking at new members.  Please spend a couple of minutes reviewing this and if you have any further questions feel free to ask one of the Leaders or Executive Committee.

The admissions policy can be found here.

Adult Helpers & Volunteering

All parents and guardians of the children that join the group are expected to help in some way.  Some sections have regular help rotas where by each parent is expected to help on one or two of the weekly meetings each term.  Other sections have enough Leaders and will only ask for assistance occasionally. If, however you would like to become more involved, or even to become a leader please let us know.

Subscriptions

There is a membership fee when joining the BSG, currently this is £25 per school term.  This fee is paid at the start of each term and details can be found in our Subscription Policy.
